Are You in Zero-Hour Contracts ?
Firms in the UK are now using 1.4 million zero-hours contracts with no guaranteed hours in sight and 883,000 workers having these contracts as their main job. TUC general secretary Frances O'Grady said: "Zero-hours contracts sum up what has gone wrong in the modern workplace. They shift almost all power from the worker and give it to their boss." Not only can a person be sent home at a moments' notice but also have no prospect of planning their finances, looking after children, booking holidays or paid absence if sick etc.
